---------------------------------------------------------------- George Gerschwin - Summertime ---------------------------------------------------------------- difficulty: intermediate Tabbed by: Luke Woudt Email: l_woudt@hotmail.com Based on a tab from "guitar techniques", dec 2000 To my surprise, i couldn't find any good tabs of this classic jazz piece. Well luckily i have a good one for y'all. My guitar teacher gave me this as practise, it's a very good transcription for guitar because it covers both melody and rhythm, which gives it a full sound. But the version from the magazine is very staccato, and lacked that jazzy groove that the original from the Porgy and Bess musical has. So i made a tab of how i always play it; a slightly different arrangement with some additional arpeggio's. Play it slow and gently, with a jazzy shuffle groove. I haven't heard any versions of the song that have a similar arrangement, but just play it a couple of times untill you get the feel of it. Make sure you put extra accent in the melody line. ________________________________________________________________ standard tuning X mute ~~~~~~~~ let note ring / slide C(number) barre at (number) fret C(number)======== barre at (number) fret until ==== ends (number) play very softly || || || || ||
